Technology is a word that has come to represent both love and hate. It has the power to connect and enrich our lives at home, the office, and in our communities. We can enjoy the benefits of communicating more effectively and controlling the environment around us. Technology has the ability to make us more productive and let us create opportunities that only a few years ago seemed impossible. Along with these positives, there also seems to be that bitter side of technology...it's complicated.
That's where Kobalt was born, out of a need to make the complicated process of designing and implementing integration systems a simpler easier one.
In 2010, Kobalt Tech Group was founded by Shay Taylor. To say that he was born to be a systems designer might be a tall order, but it's not too far off from reality. With his father being an electrician working on luxury homes, and a neighbor who owned one of the industry's leading lighting control manufacturing companies, he has been working with automation and controls longer than he's been driving a car...legally anyway. After studying electrical engineering, working for some of the nation's leading AV integration/design companies, as well as behind a mixing console or two as a sound engineer, he decided it was time to take his 15+ years of know-how and form a group where innovative design and committed follow through existed at its core.
